New England Donor Memorial Unveiled at New England Organ Bank
New England Donor Memorial

On Thursday, October 15, New England Organ Bank unveiled the New England Donor Memorial, the first memorial of its kind in the region to honor the memory of the thousands of organ and tissue donors who have given the gift of life through the past decades. The memorial was designed by world renowned artist Robert Shure whose public sculptures are familiar to many, including the sculpted profile of George Washington in the entryway of the Washington Monument in the nation’s capital. Mr. Shure, himself, knows the power of donation and transplant as he the recipient of a sight-restoring cornea transplant.

Generous contributions from area transplant centers including Boston Children’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, Tufts Medical Center and Yale-New Haven Hospital made the memorial possible.
