LiveOnNY has unofficially broken the record in the US (2.2K) for total number of registrants in a single day, with over 3K hard copy enrollments and counting!
LiveOnNY joined by individuals and teams including donor recipients, donor families, hospitals, businesses, community groups, colleges, and elected officials throughout the greater New York area, rallied together on October 6 to bring hope to the more than 10,000 New Yorkers waiting for a life-saving transplant. New York elected officials included: Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci, Senator David Carlucci, Senator John J. Flanagan, Senator Jose Peralta, City Council member Costa Constantinides and more.
New Yorkers in midtown were feted by celebrated sports stars out supporting LiveOnNY’s efforts to educate the public on the importance of signing up as a donor. Athletes included: former New York Mets & New York Yankees right fielder Darryl Strawberry, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith, New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara, and former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber.
With a recent survey indicating that over 90% of state residents support organ donation, but with only 25% registered, Tuesday served as affirmation that New Yorkers are willing to make the important decision of signing up as life-saving organ donors.
We want to thank New Yorkers for supporting LiveOnNY and the efforts to save lives in New York. This is just the beginning!
