If you weren’t one of the lucky 548 attendees at this year’s Transplant Management Forum, here are a few highlights, which also should whet your appetite for next year’s event.

Exciting sessions included the following:

  • Vascularized composite allograft (VCA) transplants: results that change lives. In addition to a description of VCA and an update on progress, the session included remarks by a face transplant recipient and the daughter of her donor.
  • Transplant center and OPO relationships: extending understanding through collaboration. A look at their complex interdependence.
Traditionalists, Boomers, GenXers and Ys … Oh my! The characteristics and viewpoints of the populations and how to ensure diversity and productivity.
  • The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services transplantation regulatory update: the new, the old and the upcoming. This ever-popular session helps prepare for CMS regulatory surveys.
  • View poster abstract winners and Heckenkemper award winner, Tracy Giacoma, RN, M.S.N., M.B.A., FACHE.
