New instructional recording available: DTAC and CDC Collaborative Case Reviews

Transplant professionals report potential donor-derived disease transmission events to the OPTN when they suspect transmissions. Cases involving national public health issues are reviewed collaboratively by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the OPTN Ad Hoc Disease Advisory Committee (DTAC). These two groups combine their efforts to quickly disseminate information and prevent adverse outcomes for the recipients. A 30-minute recording outlines how the DTAC and CDC work together on cases requiring efficient nationwide notification of infectious diseases.

After listening to the recording, you will be able to:

  • Summarize the importance of the DTAC/CDC partnership in case reviews
  • Describe the data review goal for disease transmission cases

You can find the recording on UNOS Connect, UNOS’ learning management system. After logging on, select Course Catalog>Quality Effective Practices>DTAC and CDC Collaborative Case Review.
If you successfully pass the assessment, you will receive .25 category 1 CEPTC points.
