Extra Vessels: reporting disposition to the OPTN

Extra Vessels: reporting disposition to the OPTN

The transplant community has struggled with effective tracking of extra vessels. Disease transmission via the use of deceased or living donor organs and extra vessels can result in serious illness or death in recipients. Therefore, it is important that the OPTN have complete and timely information on the use of extra vessels when cases of potential disease transmission are reported. This training will educate transplant centers about tools available to allow them to efficiently report to the OPTN when extra vessels are transplanted or disposed. This education will also outline the process for how to report and what information should be included in the report to the OPTN.

The goal of this educational webinar is:

  • Review policies related to vessel(s) disposition reporting;
  • Highlight tools provided by the OPTN for reporting extra vessel(s) disposition; and
  • Highlight important point to consider practices in reporting extra vessel disposition.
