Medical product recalls may affect availability of certain drugs

A recent Reuters article noted that the short-term availability of certain drugs may be affected by product recalls from distributors.  In addition to medications recalled by the New England Compounding Center (NECC), a voluntary recall was also issued by the distributor Ameridose for all of its recent products. Visit the Ameridose site to read a news release containing a list of products affected.

While hospitals, OPOs and labs receive medications and supplies through a variety of channels, it may be helpful to review current distributors of key drugs and supplies and identify possible alternatives to make sure that their availability is not affected by one or more recalls.
